  • Suitable for washing most fabrics.
  • Pretreat any heavy duty stains with an extra squirt straight onto soiled fabric, or our stain remover.
  • Add 4 pumps (14mls) to the drawer of your washing machine. If you have a top loader, add the detergent to the base of your machine before you put your clothes in.
  • 40 degrees is optimal for performance, however Dirt will work at colder temperatures with only a mild performance difference.

The concentrate.

Our detergent is 8x concentrated, so a few pumps do the work of a full capful of the regular stuff. That means less water being shipped around the country, less packaging per load, and more washes out of every bottle. Small dose, same clean.

Value, everyday.

Our products have been priced to make life easy. Just good value every day.
Our standard size Refill packs cost less than a standard named supermarket brand, even as they cycle through various discounts. We always want to keep our pricing as clean as your clothes.

Our detergents, side by side.

FAQs

How many loads are in the Original Laundry Detergent Starter Pack?

You’ll get about 65 average-sized loads out of your Original Laundry Detergent Starter Pack. We calculate this based on our recommended dose of 4 pumps (14ml) per standard load.

Is Dirt’s Original Laundry Detergent more economical than buying standard supermarket brands?

Yes, and the value only gets better over time.

Our Original Laundry Detergent Starter Pack has a cost per load of 37c which is less than most supermarket laundry brands even as they cycle through half-price discounts.

The ongoing cost then lowers again when you purchase our Refill Pack that has a cost per load of 34c, or our Bulk Refill Pack that has a cost per load of 30c.

Can I use Original Laundry Detergent in both hot and cold water?

Absolutely. 40°C is optimal for performance, but Dirt will still work at colder temperatures with only a mild performance difference.

If you are washing cold, you can also add an extra pump of Original Laundry Detergent to give an extra boost. For an average 8kg washer this would mean using 5 pumps (or 17.5ml) instead of the standard 4 pumps (14ml).

For anything that’s super smelly, sweaty, or soiled, we recommend upping the temperature to 40°C.

Can I use this Original Laundry Detergent in auto-dosing machines?

Yes, you definitely can! Just be aware that our dosage per load is much less than standard detergents, so depending on your machine, you may need to either set your auto-dosage to low, or dilute the detergent 1:1 with water so your machine doesn't use too much.

As a general rule, we recommend 14ml (about 4 pumps) for an average 8kg load. Check out our auto-dose machine guide for more info.

Does Original Laundry Detergent work in front and top loaders?

Yes it does!

The difference between supermarket front and top loading detergents is that top loading detergent generally contains more bubbling ingredients. This is because top loaders use nearly double the amount of water as front loaders.

If used in a front loader, these top loading detergents will over bubble, and reduce the quality of the wash (because the bubbles make it difficult for the machine to create the friction it needs to wash clothes effectively).

So, if you see a detergent that’s suitable for both front and top loaders, it means there's no extra bubbling agent.

Our detergent doesn't use any unnecessary bubbling agents, making it perfectly safe and effective for both machine types. However, because top loaders use more water, you may need to tweak your dosage slightly.

We recommend 14ml (4 pumps) for an 8kg machine, so use that as a guideline  (1 pump per every 2kg) to find the best dose for you. For more info, check out our extended dosage guide.
