If you’ve got an autodosing washing machine, congratulations — you’re already halfway to a smarter, easier laundry setup. These clever machines take the measuring off your hands, automatically dispensing detergent with each wash so you don’t have to think about it.
Now, pair that tech with a high-performance formula like Dirt, and you’re really dialling up the efficiency. Our detergent is ultra-concentrated, meaning you get powerful cleaning with a fraction of the usual amount. That’s not just good for your clothes and machine — it’s good for the planet too. Less detergent per wash means less packaging, less carbon emissions, less waste, and fewer refills. Each bottle of Dirt goes a long way, delivering value per load and reducing your environmental footprint at the same time.
But to get the most out of our formula, there’s a simple tweak you need to make to your machine’s settings.
Adjust Your Dosage Settings
Auto-dosing machines are typically set up to work with standard supermarket detergents, which are usually much more diluted than Dirt. Because our formula is so concentrated, you’ll need to reduce the dosage significantly to avoid using too much.
Start by turning your detergent dosage settings down — way down. In most machines, you’ll find these under “Detergent Settings” or “Auto-dose Amount.” If your machine lets you set the amount by millilitres, great — you can input the exact dosage you need based on the table below:

If your machine only allows dosage adjustments in steps (like low, medium, high), choose the lowest setting. These typically default to around 30ml, which is still more than you need. To fix this, simply dilute the Dirt detergent with water at a 1:1 ratio before adding it to your detergent chamber. This means your machine will dispense about 15ml of actual Dirt detergent per wash — right on target.
Need a stronger dose? No problem. You can adjust the dilution ratio depending on your machine size or laundry needs. Just make sure to mix thoroughly before pouring the solution in, so the detergent and water are evenly combined.
Mixing tip: Use a clean jug or bottle, and give it a good stir or shake. You’re aiming for a uniform mix without streaks or separation.
Only Fill What You'll Use
Here’s a small but important tip: only fill the detergent tank with enough product to last about a month.
Why? Dirt’s formula is enzyme-active, and those natural cleaning agents perform best when they’re fresh. Over time, exposure to air can reduce their effectiveness, so topping up monthly keeps your detergent working its hardest.
A Little Setup, A Lot Less Waste
Setting up your auto-dosing machine to work with Dirt takes just a couple of quick changes, but it makes a big difference. You’ll get cleaner clothes with less detergent, reduce waste, and keep your laundry routine simple, smart, and sustainable.
